Fox Eye Surgery
Fox eye surgery, also known as lateral canthoplasty or lateral canthotomy, is a procedure that involves making an incision along the lateral (outer) aspect of the eye socket (orbit) on the temporal scalp. The goal of this procedure is to create a more almond-shaped eye, also known as a "fox eye" appearance. This procedure is often performed in combination with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as a brow lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), or facelift.
The temporal scalp incision is typically made in the natural crease line along the hairline. This incision allows the surgeon to access the lateral canthal tendon, which helps to support the outer corner of the eye. By releasing or repositioning this tendon, the surgeon can create a more oval or almond-shaped eye.
The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia with sedation, although general anesthesia may be used in some cases. The surgery typically takes about an hour to complete.
After the surgery, the patient may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort around the eye area. These side effects usually resolve within a few days to a week. The patient will be given instructions on how to care for the incision site and manage any discomfort. It is important to follow these instructions carefully to minimize the risk of complications and optimize the results of the procedure.
Overall, fox eye surgery can be an effective way to achieve a more youthful and attractive appearance. However, like any surgical procedure, it carries some risks and potential complications. It is important to discuss the procedure in detail with a qualified plastic surgeon to determine if it is the right choice for you.
